In this article, I am going to explain you how to make 10 easy braids if you have short hair. Its all really easy hairstyles for short hair and it wouldn’t take much time to make these hairstyles. Also, you don’t need much things for these hairstyles.

Easy Braid for Short Hair#1-French Braid

Step-1

For this hairstyle, you need to take a small section of hair from the front and then take some bobby pins and then pin it back to create a bump in the front.

Step-2

Now, grab a section of hair right below behind the little bump, and then divide into three sections.

Step-3

Now, take the right section, put it over the middle and tighten it down, and then going to the other side to the left section, bring it over to the new middle section.

Step-4

Once you get over to the other side, you need to place the right section down and need to start adding hair. So, you need to take a section and cross it over the middle with the added hair.

Step-5

Again, with the left side, you need to hold it down, and place the section down then you need to slide it towards the middle, and bring it over the middle with the new hair, and then continue doing this again.

Step-6

Once you have no more hair to braid just tie off the ends with a clear elastic.

Step-7

Now, you need pull apart the braid to make it a little bit more bigger and add more volume to the hair. That’s it, you are done with your French braid.

Easy Braid for Short Hair#2- Dutch Braid

Step-1

It is basically an inverted French braid instead of the strands going over the middle, they’re going underneath. Starting with the two pointer fingers, grab a nice section from the front middle leaving the sides aside, it does not have to be perfect but we are going to just use the middle section for this hairstyle.

Step-2

Now, you need to take the front section from that middle part and split that into three. Then grab in the right outer section and tuck it underneath the middle and bring that one to the other side.

Step-3

Then take the left outer section, bring it right underneath as well and this is where you need to start adding hair. So take the section of hair, drop the section down and adding in hair, you need to tuck it underneath.

Step-4

Going to the other side, drop the outer left section and by adding the hair to it bring it underneath the middle section.

Step-5

Now, you need to continue braiding your hair until you reach the crown portion of your head and then stop braiding there and tie it off as a ponytail. You need to tie it off closely to your scalp so that the ponytail won’t be hanging loose, and it’s going to be nice flat to the head.

Step-1

For this hairstyle, you need to divide the hair like our last hairstyle. That is you need to divide it from the front to your crown area and clip it up. Then grab the rest of the hair and pin it away.

Step-2

Now, you need to let the front section go and divide it in half to create two sections and clip one section aside. With the other section, you need to grab a small section of hair from its front. As the fishtail braid is consisting of only two strands, split it right in half.

Step-3

Now, take off a small section on the outer portion of the braid and tuck it underneath and add in it to the other side. Do the same thing to the other side take a small section off, bring it underneath and add it over to the other section.

Step-4

Now, this is where you need to start adding hair to those two sections. So take a little section from the braid, drop it and then grab a hair from underneath and add it underneath to the other side, and continue the same process. This braid does take a little bit extra work but it’s easy to work with because it is only two strands.

Once you run out of hair to braid, just braid another inch to two inches and then tie it off with a clear elastic and keep another two inches of hair without braiding.

Step-1

For this hairstyle, you need to part your hair from the middle first of all. Then you need to section off your hair from the front of both the sections and take rest of the hair and clip it away, so that it doesn’t bother you while you are doing your lace braid.

Step-2

Now, take a section of hair from the top of one side and divide it into three sections. A lace braid is basically where you add hair to only one side instead of both left and right.

Step-3

To start with take the front section and cross it over the middle and then just repeat on the other side take the section and cross it over the middle.

Step-4

At this stage, you need to start adding hair to only the front section of the braid. So, place the section down and add the hair all the way from the front to where the section ends, grab the hair and bring it over the middle.

Now, with the other side without adding in hair, you need to bring it over the middle. This braid is super easy because you only have to concentrate on one side where you add the hair. So, continue braiding this hair until you have no more hair left to add.

Now, repeat the same process on the other side. Once you have done braiding, you need to take these braids, bring them towards the back of your head in the middle and pin them away with little bobby pins. That’s it, you are done with your lace braid.

Step-1

To start with, you need to part your hair like a little bit more to the right. Then grab a nice section of hair from the front but with this braid you need to start working from the back making your way down. So, divide your front section into three, take the back section and cross it over the middle and then under the front portion and drop that section there.

Step-2

Now, take the section in the back and twist it over the middle. So that’s where the twist comes in hold these two sections down, and this is where we’re going to start grabbing hair.

Step-3

Now, grab smaller sections and bring it over the middle section and then take the front section and bring it over, so basically the one we added will go under and drop.

Step-4

Now, go back to the outer section and cross it over the middle and stop go back up. Grab a smaller section and we’re going to bring this over the middle and then under the outer and drop, and you need to continue the whole process until you run of those two pieces that you grabbed at the starting.

Step-5

Now, take those two pieces without taking the little waterfall portion and tie it off with a clear elastic. So you can leave it like as it is or you can use little bobby pins to place it in the side, and you are done with your waterfall braid.

Step-1

For this hairstyle, you need to grab a section in the front and divide the section into three and just braid like a regular three strand braid.

Step-2

Once you reach the end, when you have about like an inch to half an inch left and braided, tie it off with a clear elastic. Make sure, your braid is positioned going towards the back.

Step-3

Now, you need to pull the bottom part of the braid apart and create a hole from underneath. Then start grabbing smaller sections of hair from the top to pull through the hole.

Step-4

Again, right to the next one make the hole and grab a section of hair and pull it through.

Step-5

Once you have pulled majority of your braid through, when you have two little sections left, you should not pull through any more hair to it. If you pull any more, your braid is going to fall apart because it will be too thin at the end. So, make sure you leave these few pieces left undone but majority of a braid completed. You can leave it like as it is just like the waterfall braid or you can add any little piece of some kind of glamorized pin and make it pretty.

Step-1

To start with, you need to part your hair from the center first of all. Then, take one section either left one are right one to start your braid. You can leave some of your hair hanging down to kind of frame your face a little bit and grab a nice healthy section from the top and divide it into four. so there will be two outer sections and two inner sections.

Step-2

To start off of the braid, take the outer one from the front side closest to your face. So taking the outer section, tuck it underneath the first inner section, and then go over the second inner section and stop.

Step-3

Then take the outer farthest section, bring it over the second inner and under the first inner section and stop. So take the front outer section, pass it under the front middle and then over the other outer section and then just continue this.

Step-4

Then you need to hold three of the section from the front together and just hold the last one alone. Now, by holding the one which is alone tightly, you need to pull the remaining three sections up. When you pull apart the braid, concentrate on the outer portions only leave the center alone and when you finish pulling it apart, just tie it off with the clear elastic.

Step-5

Now, you need to do the braid on the other side by following the same process. Once your second braid is done and you need to take a mini bobby pin and pin both the braids to the hair underneath. That’s it, you are done with your seventh hairstyle.

Easy Braid for Short Hair#8- Macrame Braid

Step-1

For this hairstyle, you need to take a smaller section of hair to begin with. So, grab a small section of hair from the top and divide it into three like a regular three strand braid. When you do this braid, don’t go too tight.

Step-2

Once you have about like an inch or so left of all three strands, take the two outer sections put them together and pull the braid up by holding the middle strand. So, we’re going to keep the middle section hanging straight down. You need to keep pulling up and then again back down to create that macrame look.

Step-3

If you have tiny and thin pieces left then you can a mini bobby pin or if you have more hair let then you can tie it with a clear elastic. In case of bobby pin it, you need to take some hair from the back and pick it up and then just hide this braid. You need to leave the braid pretty loose instead of pulling it and take the mini bobby pin and just secure it.

Step-4

You can leave it like just one braid or you can do the same braid on the other side as well.

Step-1

For this hairstyle, you need to section off your entire hair going from the front to the back and then clip the rest of the hair that you are not going to work on away.

Step-2

Then you need to start grabbing a section from the front of the head, split the section of hair in two. Then you need to twist the front section going towards your face and make it go over towards the back.

Step-3

Again grab some hair and twist going towards your face twice and take it back over the other going away from the face. So, you need to be only adding hair to the bottom portion and you want to always keep it tight and do the braid all the way down. Make sure you keep holding the braid tightly and you should not let it go at this point because it’s not secure.

Step-4

Once you reach the end and run out of hair, take a clear elastic and just tie the end of your rope. Now, by using the same method do the rope braid on the other side.

Step-5

Once you have done your braids, you can leave them as it is or also, you can just connected the ends in the back using any fancy clip or bobby pins.

Easy Braid for Short Hair#10- Dutch Infinity Braid

Step-1

Again, for this hairstyle, you need to section of your hair exactly the same way as the Dutch braid. So, you need to work with the section up on the top like that Mohawk style. So, take the section down, grab a section in the front and split it right in half.

Step-2

Now, take a small section from the right side and start doing the infinity Dutch braid. So for the Dutch braid the section goes underneath at first and then over the middle and bring it to the other side.

Step-3

You need to add a little bit of hair from the side to make it a little bit thicker and then take that underneath the section right there and then we’re going to take this section over.

Step-4

Once you run out of hair there, you need to just tie it off with a clear elastic and then grab some hair underneath to make sure it’s nice and flat to your scalp.
