Step 2: Primer

Makeup for Beginners

The first step of the makeup process is primer. So, apply it to all over your face.

What is primer?

Primers usually have white texture. The purpose of a primer is create a base on your face and this is going to help your makeup last longer and smoother.

The type of primer that you use depends on your skin needs because there are so many different types of primers. It is basically a barrier between your skin and the makeup and it prevents the makeup sinking into your pores because when you don’t wear primer you put the makeup directly onto your face and then within a couple of hours it just sinks into your pores and the makeup is all gone. So primer prevents that from happening.

Types of primer:

  • For oily skin
  • For dry skin
  • For pores

Step 3: Foundations

Makeup for Beginners

Foundation will help you yo make your skin looks perfect. Choose foundation according to your skin type, if you have oily skin then you can go for matte foundation.

Types of foundation:

  • Matte
  • Dewy
  • Hydrating
  • Long wear
  • Water resistant

Color match foundation:

  • Pink Undertone
  • Yellow Undertone

The first thing you should do is color match. If your skin is fair then you can go for pink foundation and if you are Mediterranean olive then go for yellow undertone.

Coverage

  • Full Coverage – Gonna cover everything, thicker texture
  • Light Coverage – More sheer, light coverage, Even out your skin tone.
  • Medium coverage

To apply foundation you can use buffing brushes or beauty blender

Not everyone likes to wear foundation so this is your personal preference. So if you don’t like to use foundation then second option is to use tinted moisturizer. It is super easy to use. It will give you the most sheerest lightest coverage.

The third option is use powder foundation, so if powder foundation is like a powder it’s in a compact, and bit thicker than a regular powder.

Step 4: Concealer

Makeup for Beginners

Apply concealer in your under eye area. To blend out you can use your finger or you can use a beauty blender, whatever works for you.

What is concealer?

Concealer is thicker than foundation. It will help you to cover your dark circles and age spots. Concealer makes a huge difference to your after makeup look. So basically anywhere where you have shadows apply concealer. It is also going to give you a coverage and brightness.

When you pick the shade of concealer, choose about two shades lighter than your foundation or your natural skin tone.

Step 5: Powder

Makeup for Beginners

Next step is to set foundation and concealer because you want to make sure that this stays put all throughout the day, doesn’t budge doesn’t move.

Apply right amount of powder that you actually need to set your makeup. You should apply this powder where you want a lot of shine. Apply powder to your chin area, cheek area, forehead, bridge of the nose, around the nose, under eye if you get really oily.

Powders come in two forms:

  • loose powder
  • compact powder

They are the same, so you people have to use it and see which you prefer.

Where your makeup is going to break down because of oils from your skin the powder is going to prevent that. So apply it in all the areas where you usually get a lot of oil. If you have really really dry skin you don’t need to apply powder.

Step 6: Blush and Bronzer

Bronzer: Bronzer gives a beautiful glow to the skin and it looks good on everyone. To apply it use big fluffy brush. The way to apply it is start from your forehead and you go along your cheekbone and then along your jawline and you’re creating the shape of the number “three”.

Blush: For blush concentrate on the apples of your cheeks and then blend back towards the top of your ears.

And then when it comes to colors you can go for a pink, peach, rose. It depends on your skin tone and it depends on your mood.

If you ever feel like you’ve applied way too much blush, one of the easiest ways to solve that is to take a clean brush or even your powder brush and gently blend out the edges.
