90’s Throwback Halloween Costume Idea#1- Zenon

90's Throwback Halloween Costume Ideas

Our first 90’s throwback Halloween costume is Zenon girl of the 21st century.

Things you need for this costume:

  1. Blue Skirt
  2. Blue Vest
  3. Shiny Pink Tights
  4. Shiny Pink Long-Sleeve Top
  • It is quite hard to find a top that matched Zenon’s look but you can find something that matches with the exact one from Amazon.
  • For that shiny top you can get a gymnastics dress as a lot of dance and gymnastics costumes use this shiny Zenon material, so that’s a good place to look for your Zenon top and pant as well.
  • Also, don’t forget to put your hair up in those high pigtails.
  • The Zenon movies came out on Disney Channel in the early 2000’s and they were very popular. It’ll make everyone you’re hanging out with on Halloween super nostalgic.

90’s Throwback Halloween Costume Idea#2- Ash Catchem

90's Throwback Halloween Costume Ideas

Our second costume is everyone’s favorite Pokemon trainer Ash Catchem.

Things you need for this costume:

  1. Blue Sleeveless Zip-Up
  2. White Polo Shirt
  3. Green Finger-less Gloves
  4. Red and white hat
  5. Green and Yellow Felts
  6. Hot Glue
  • There’s only a few little things that you have to DIY for the Ash costume.
  • Ash’s jacket has yellow lining on the pocket, so to replicate that cut two small strips of yellow felt and hot glue them where the pockets would be.
  • On Ash’s hat, he has a little green symbol, so cut that shape out in green felt hot glue it on to the hat, and you’re ready to go catch the Pokemon.
  • It’s really is an easy costume to put together once you have all of the supplies.
  • Also, if you don’t want to order special finger-less gloves for your costume, just cut the fingers off a pair of standard green mittens and that’ll be perfect.
  • The best part about being Ash Catchem for Halloween at least for me is that you get to play Pokemon go on your phone all night, and no one can judge you for it, because it’s part of the look.

90’s Throwback Halloween Costume Idea#3- Spinelli

90's Throwback Halloween Costume Ideas

Recess was one of my favorite shows growing up and Spinelli was just the ultimate girl boss of a character. Spinelli’s outfit is pretty simple.

Things you need for this costume:

  1. Red Dress
  2. Black Leather Jacket
  3. Orange Beanie
  4. Striped Socks
  5. Black Boots
  • Under Spinelli’s orange beanies, she has two pigtails that stick straight out. If you want to make it really legit put a pipe cleaner in the pigtails, so that it’ll make your hair stick straight out.
  • This throwback costume is one of my favorites because it’s really original and unique, but still Recess was a super popular show, so all the other Millennials out there will totally get it.
  • You could make this costume even more next level by getting your whole squad to dress up as the Recess crew.

90’s Throwback Halloween Costume Idea#4- Penelope

90's Throwback Halloween Costume Ideas

Who remembers this girl from The Amanda Show. It’s Penelope, that’s the next costume we’re doing.

Things you need for this costume:

  1. Plaid Button-Down
  2. Blue Vests
  3. Long Grey Shorts
  4. Brown Bob Wig
  5. Glasses
  • Penelope was Amanda’s biggest fan on the Amanda show, so you can channel your inner fan girl for this costume.
  • Penelope is such a funny character and the Amanda show is just iconic. So, all the other 90’s kids out there will love this costume, plus you can run around all night in search of Amanda.

90’s Throwback Halloween Costume Idea#5- Arthur

90's Throwback Halloween Costume Ideas

When I was growing up I used to watch Arthur every single morning before school. So, the Arthur costume was at the top of my list for throwback costumes.

Things you need for this costume:

  1. White Button-Down
  2. Yellow Sweater
  3. Blue Jeans
  4. Glasses
  5. Headband
  6. Tan and Brown Felt
  7. Batting/Stuffing
  8. Popsicle Sticks
  9. Hot Glue
  • Arthur is a really easy costume to pull together, and if you’re not into crazy out there costumes that draw in a bunch of attention, Arthur is a good option because this costume is definitely more low-profile.
  • To make Arthur’s little ears, take the darker piece of belt and fold it over itself twice. Draw the shape of the ear and cut around it, so that you end up with four identical pieces.
  • Hot glue two pieces to each other but leave the bottom open so that you can stop it with the bat. In the lighter felt, cut to smaller ear shapes and attach them to the ears.
  • The ears won’t stay up straight on their own, so step a Popsicle stick inside each ear to give it shape.
  • Glue the ears on to the headband, and they’re ready to go.
  • The Arthur costume is really comfy and casual and it also makes a great last minute option for Halloween.
  • The ears only take 10 minutes to DIY and everything else for this costume, you may probably already have in your closet.
